Over the first week of the drawing class, we have done many different things. And everything we have done was to prepare us for a painting that needs to be done over the first weekend.
This painting is a very graphical piece. We must first choose a photo related to our events and paint it very graphically with a painter icon in mind, which is Lisa Ruyter.
Some work of hers:
So in order to prepare us for this painting. The first day we studied the greyscale and made our own, to gain a deeper understand of the different tones and contrasts. And here is the greyscale I have done:
And this is the Richter Meets Albers Gradient I did:
After studying the greyscale, on the second day, we looked at the color wheel to enhance our knowledge of colors. (primary, secondary, tertiary, complimentary, hue, tint, contrast,....etc). And this is the color wheel I have created myself:
We then chose a color palette for our paintings with the mood of our events in mind. And here are the different color palettes I have looked at in my sketch book:
(Insert color palettes)
I then chose a photo I was going to paint.
With the help of photoshop, I posterized the photo, so I could very easily get the sense of layers in my painting.
Then transferred the image with transfer paper onto the illustration board I will be painting on.
After getting everything prepared, I was ready to start painting:
DUNDUNDUNDUN!!! Here is my final outcome:
