Impossible Conversations.

After headed to the "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations"special exhibition at the Met, it got me thinking....

If I could have one conversation with an artist/designer to talk about my creative process, who would it be?

First person that came across my mind was Elie Saab.

Friends who know me well would have easily guessed, because of my deep, crazy, intense obsession I have of him for a long time.

For people who do not know Elie Saab (which you all should), here is a little introduction of him. ;) so maybe you guys can fall in love with him too.

Elie Saab
Elie Saab, sometimes known as 'ES', is a lebanese fashion designer. He is a self-taught fashion talent. He started sewing as a child, already making clothes for his sister. As a teenager later, he started selling his own creations to the women in his neighbourhood. In 1981, he moved to Paris to study Fashion, but ended up returning and opening his workshop after a year, launched his Beirut-based fashion label when he was only 18 years old at that moment.

In 1997, Saab became a member of the Italian Camera Nazionale della Moda and he was the first non-Italian designer ever to do that. However, he was not a known designer until Halle Berry introduced him to the world at the 2002 Oscars, which made him an overnight star.

Saab is famous for mixing Arabic and Western influences, he uses materials like taffeta, organza and satin intertwined with liquid fabric muslin and lace, which gives people a strong sense of cleanliness and simplicity.

When I was first introduced to this designer, I was completely stunned by his style and talent. I saw exactly what a person I want to be. I was not only inspired by his designs but him as a designer, as a person. I want to get to know him. I would ask him how he did it, how he overcame all these challenges to be where he is now, how he never gave up on his way, how he achieved what he achieved... I have so, so many questions that I want to ask him.
